Is it a bad omen to cut dogwood today?

My Mother called and said that her dogwood split at the crotch and one half fell in her yard. It is one of the biggest I've seen and my Father planted it 2 days after I was born. So I will be cutting dogwood on Easter Sunday but the ox is in the ditch. I'm not superstitious but this seems like a bad omen to me.

Everything turned out okay. Dogwood is some hard wood for sure. Got some nice rounds out of it.

Is it a bad omen to run over a bunny on Easter morning?
I think I may have taken the cake on bad omens back when I was younger. My friends and I were racing the back roads back from the club on a late Saturday night/ Easter morning and I was going way too fast to avoid a rabbit that jumped out in front of my truck. I kept waiting for something really bad to happen. That was 20 years ago. My 20 year anniversary is coming up in a few months.
