Is Husky's Air injection still better than Stihl's?

I think it's a good idea to clean your airfilter everyday or twice a day in the timber regardless of how dirty it is.

Unless it's a 394/395. I have a low top 394 I bought new and may have cleaned the air filter once in like 60 or so tanks of fuel, and it was as clean or cleaner than a 346 after 2 tanks

Not sure why you're having troubles with the 346. I have a 2152 that pre filters exceptionally well and 346 is the same system.

Tell that to stihl!! Pnw rep for stihl, and my local dealer told me that if i removed the filter before it was visibily packed with debris that they will and can void all warranty. Something about the seal of the filter. This was on the 241 and 661

Since the air injection technology is a centrifugal filter, the way it works is the chips/dust get accelerated around by the flywheel to the outer edge around the flywheel and the air pickup is offset from the edge more towards the center. so the air pickup is in a cleaner area than where the chips are. Maybe larger saws like the 395xp have a larger flywheel than smaller saws like the 346xp, so there is a greater separation distance between dirty chips and clean air at the pickup location.

Also, if you port a 346xp you can take advantage of the intake boot/carb/filter from a 357xp/359 which is a larger filter less prone to clog up.

actually, I use 357/359 airfilterholder&filter on all my 346's, some of them are not ported.

I was wondering the same thing. How would they have any idea how often one services the filter.

They won't.
The only reason they don't want you to service it all the time is so loose material don't fall in the carb all the time and premature element wear.
No possible way they can know how often you pull the filter.

Having been part of Stihl (see my sig) I can tell you without a doubt that is absolute nonsense .
Air filter service is part of maintaining your saw , just look in the Ops manual .

Yeah, I think they would have a hard time making voiding your warantee stick if you pushed the issue about the fact that you are maintaining it in accordance with what the manual recommends... Dumbest thing I've heard of in a while.
