So with what is currently known about the up coming Stihl 462. Would you wait for it to come out, (who knows when) or buy the proven 461 tomorrow?
That is the question that haunts me. I'm not a mtronic fan and don't want to miss out on the tried and true 461.
What does everyone think?

Tried and true 461! Go for it!

That would be awesome!

I can do that tomorrow, no problem ;)
The only wrap on mine will be the rope on the recoil. They look good but other than that they are more of a pain in the tits. #wraphater #halfwraporbust

Out of curiosity I looked through the new 2018 Stihl catalog.

A 261cm is priced higher than a new PS-7910 costs (~1000$).
Once I've seen that the list price for a 462 is identical to the price of a 661 I just stopped browsing.

No brand bashing, I'm just caught off guard and by surprise.

I wouldn't think there would be that much of a difference in countries but retail on a 261 C-M is $579.95, retail is $1219.95 for the 661 here and I ASSume that the 462 will come in around the low $11xx as that's just a whisker above the 461.

It is ridiculous, here in germany, we pay much more for our own made saws (Stihl, Dolmar) like in almost every other country in the world... It's much cheeper to buy a stihl re-import from poland or the czech repuplic as example. 462 is listed here with 1749$, 261 with 1200$. Realistic price discount is mostly 15-20%, but still to high imho

We dealers blame Stihl for that.
It begins with the problem that german dealer have to repair re-imported stihl saws under warranty.
Very funny to repair a MS 261-II without M-tronic under warranty.

If you try to order the non-Mtron carb for the new MS 261 you got told that this part is not available for germany.

Our biggest luck is, we have no other dealers for Stihl or Husky the next 30 km.
Enough customers so we can sell a lot of saws and most of them are MS 241/261.

I can’t get my head around that as well if your producing a product why is it cheaper to import.Another example GB bars cheaper to buy them in the USA and freight them back to Australia then buy locally it’s BS:(
