I'm sure I don't see near as many as you, but the local guys use 460/461s as their primary saws, and they are very hard on them. I have only seen one that needed bearings, the the only one with a bad case had been crushed.

As light as the 462 is I'm betting it will be a forearm killer with a longer bar. I would hate to have to run it with 50cc size bars to not be more off balance.
I had the chance to give the 462 a try, and I think you're right.

But there's a lot of guys around here (and maybe in Germany too, Stephan?) who use 16/18/20" bars on 70/75cc saws.

For those guys, this saw is gold.

How you doing Guillaume?

I believe you are right. Around here a the primary saw for a lot of them is a 460 or 461 with a 20" bar. If they can have the same power, and save over a pound, they are really going to like it, especially if they work out of a bucket much.

HI Mike,

I had a hard time last months, health issues (I broke 2 ribs at work, and I had stress related stomach issues), and I had serious issues with my car. I wasn't really motivated to post, lately.

Now I 'm fine, and you, how are you?

I think I am missing the intent here regarding saw balance. Does one want a slightly tip heavy saw, or a even balanced saw? Level or tip down when holding the saw by the top handle?

Preferance...I like them to balance 28 because thats what i like to use on 70cc saws...but that's only what I like..which may mean nothing to someone else.

That's all me... 20" on pretty much all my saws, including El Freako. :b1:

I'm so sorry to hear, I just knew you were not posting much. Glad you are feeling better.

I'm doing just fine other than the normal "your getting older" crap. Sometimes the body just hurts after you do stuff, and you did not think you hurt anything at the time, but I just keep going.

Grand Kids are all doing well, saw them yesterday, and I'm trying to get ready for Tax Season, always a hectic time.

That's pretty much what I want. Don't want to be a ton of torque on them to get the tip up to limb or start the next bucking cut. Plus moving brush one handed out of the way with the saw is easier if the nose isn't in the dirt when holding it by the front handle.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a logger or tree guy mention “that saw is too heavy” or “that saw is so light”. If the saw isn’t making them money then they complain.

@StephK87 how is the oiler on the 462 turned up all the way? On say a 28” bar?
