Bigger isn't always better.
Exactly.

Why do they use larger bearings on 90 cc saws then?
Because they're bigger and heavier. A MS241 doesn't need bearings the size of those in a MS880.

6202 flywheel side and 6203 pto.
If the MS462 has a 6203, that's 17x40x12, larger than the bearing found in the 460 an 461, both of which do not have bottom end problems.

Bottom line, let's not look for trouble where there is none.

OK. Lol.
Small compact cars get 4 cylinder motors because thats all they need to propel them. Bigger trucks get bigger motors, for that very same reason.
If the Stihl engineers thought that a bigger bearing was needed and would make for a better stronger saw, them they would have put them into the 462. I assure you of that! [emoji6]

Time will tell which is the more durable saw

I'm a big fan of the 2 and 3 series. 242, 254, 288, 346, 372, 390, 395 such awesome saws! Way ahead of their time. Spring av, prefiltration, flawless engines, great handling! But with the reliability problemes of the 5xx (550, 560, 562) saw's the Husky's lost some reputation. Handling is still great (i still have my ported 560xpg) but quite a number of former husky prefering professionals in my circle of friends and acquaintances switched to stihl in the 50-60cc class because of these problems. I think, now they want to go as safe as possible with the construction of the 572xp to regain reliability and reputation. We will see

I threw away 6 sets of 460 cases last year. The bearing pockets were killed. I don't know if going to 6203 would help or not
What did their chains look like? Just curious as I always assumed very grabby/aggressive chains would get hard on pto bearings/bosses.
