I can recall 15 years ago Mr. Stihl talking of all this new technology coming at a company meeting , Stihl engineers were already working on it already because of coming EPA regulations .
One thing that does separate Stihl from the other companies is it's still a family owned company and I know Hans Peter took great pride in that .
He also loved his Ferrari collection too , he loved speed and I had some great chats with him about his cars . He's an amazing and very smart man .:beer-toast1:

I should add as an auto mechanic I lived thru all the changes we saw with cars , I did and still love the simple ones from the 50's into the 70's but like chainsaws it was the EPA that caused change so from carbs to electronic ignition and controlled carbs to finally fuel injection and all the sensors and gadgets that went with these it was somewhat trying times if you were under the hood of these trying to learn and repair it . It's come a long way and while there are still issues cars run much nicer and go much further than they did . We thought getting 100,000K on a car was pretty cool , now they go well beyond that .
Oh , and the switch from SAE to Metric , that was expensive o_O

On the flip side, I don't remember the last time I had to change a water pump, used to be a regular thing! Also, the anti freeze does not have to be changed every 2 or 3 years ... gotta admit ... it is getting way better!
Just wait.....I just did a water pump in my dads 08 ford edge. 80,000 miles. $100 pump, $75 special tool, 12 hours labor. I am now down to only 3 more of those to look forward too, at on them i wont have to buy the tool. just find 12 hours of my life to spare for each one

:rolleyes:Fuel injected chainsaws. Just wait till *s-word starts failing on them or you drop one. I don't see commercial guys being interested in this at all. I believe it's a good chance for some of the other companies to make a big impact in the commercial world.
As someone who has to put a saw in the hands of employees - I won't buy a carb saw for commercial work. My own saws - I don't care.

Gotta educate your workers. They should know better if they are damaging equipment. If not, get new employees.

That ounce of protection is exactly what I buy. That's pretty much my point.

I'm having issues finding a general laborer...it's ridiculous.
It is ridiculous.
Most think being there is considered working, and they are free to do what they want as long as they are on site.
The remainder try hard but are not qualified, deceptive, destructive, dumb, disengaged, etc.
Maybe 25% are acceptable by comparison.
Once in a while you get a true keeper.

chevy has done it for years, difference is that when an ecotec needs a water pump you just scrap the car. these fords are worth the effort to fix.

Its actually luck of the draw, I have seen them with 250k and the original water pump, we jsut werent that lucky and the water pump failed at 80k. shouldnt expect anything less with the way my year has been going.

I think i was faster than 12 hours on the first one but it took me 3 days to get it done so it was kinda hard to keep track of time on it, 12 hours is flat rate time on it. they want you to pull the engine to replace the water pump.

Sorry to hear about your water pump woes. Glad I'm not having them. But ...

I could tell you about replacing the timing chain on my first wives 68 Cutlass (outside in sub 20 degree weather) only to find out that all the intake valves were bent and the car was junk!!!

Nate this worries me as my wife just traded in her 14 loaded Sierra pickup for a 16 Lincoln mkc with the 2.3 ecoboost.
