One off job modified tools that you are willing to share like brake reset tool for husky's.

Devils advocate but the downside I see for a "requesting a builder" is that is corrals all the future victims easily for a saw predator like JMS or his buddy from Arboristsite to just send newbies a PM and rope them in for the daily poopshoot molestation. I guess we cant be the chainsaw police but it feels like we might be providing the barrel full of fish for the bad guys to shoot into.

what if there was a "Find a Builder" area where builders could start a thread and post a little bio (hey I live in Iowa, I have a lathe and can do X and X, my wait time is usually 2 weeks and you can contact me by the batphone) then they can also post before and after vids etc (though I like the current video thread, always a few good ones to watch there). Post about deals with customers etc.

Some kind of a points system for the trading post would be cool, I just don't know what it would take on the part of Steve and Bruce to make that happen.

i like the idea of some kind of feedback mechanism, something like ebay comes to mind. if you can click on a persons screen name, amd along with all the other info available, there could be a “score” sorts, based on feedback from transactions. idk how it could be done or if thats even possible, but doing it that way might prevent some pissing matches in public. sort of like the “rep” thing, except useful haha.

Any point system would be meaningless in no time. Remember the REP system on AS?

Well let me start off by saying I'm concerned that @Marshy idea could turn builders against one another, being it's a competition style of he who gets there the fastest gets the mostest. I for one am not going to be playing that game.

Most of us are slammed with work. I have a 4 month waiting list on most work.

That is one of the most often asked questions I see on forums, is there a porter in such n such a state or one nearest to me.

I like the idea of the review tied to the members profile. Like eBay so I can see a member satisfaction rating. It weighs into how much I and willing to take a risk on. A purchase

Yep - that's how they do it on a couple of motorcycle forums I'm involved in.

I think there's enough policing from the "regulars" to keep that from happening. Recently a situation came up with a builder and I talked to Randy about sending the guy down the road - luckily that ended up not being needed but enough of us can speak up and pull the trigger on a guy if that has to happen. The JMS scenario was an anomaly - There were several factors that went into that situation enabling it to play out for as long as it did.

This was my thought too, if a builder feels the need to post, have a section for what they will or won't do, turn around time, wait time etc. Prices can be saved for PM's

Yeah I understand how the rep got off track. Maybe you have to leave a comment to justify your marks. Or only if you have a transaction with the person

As someone that buys and sells a fair bit on the site I would welcome some form of feedback.

I liked Wade’s idea of a “services for hire” section. If that could be tied to a location of where the services are located that would be great.

In all seriousness, a review section for the sellers and buyers in the classifieds would be good.

Member map is a good idea, but keep in mind some will not want to disclose their location, (OPSEC and whatnot) so make it optional.
