actual feedback that requires a little work would be far more valuable

people value things that take work, because work is valuable

A one line post that says Dave is a poopy head with 52 yes votes is a lot less helpful than a short post that says Dave wraps his cylinder kits in rotting cabbage leaves for shipping and the secretions eat away the lining rendering them useless.
Perhaps a picture or word count should be required to prevent the hassle of having to moderate 126 "dave is a poopyhead" posts daily.

good planning will hopefully allow us to have a killer resource the online sawyers crave and not the octagon of lies and taint-hurt

stolen from an earlier post by me -

I could see reviews by actual customers (with pretty pictures naturally) of the whole experience of having a saw ported by anyone could be an awesome learning too for potential customers and a jumping off point for great conversations. Maybe any responses to those "builder experience" posts could be limited to only moderated responses by the porter and customer. Done right it would be amazing and generate a lot of interest without too much fight'n.
If in thread response was only the two people involved in the transaction, I bet it would be civil.

Some sort of a feedback system like what eBay uses could be good but it could also be bad. There is a big difference sometimes in expectations and reality. I believe communication and honesty is the key between the saw builder and the customer. With that said one must also remember that some people just aren't happy unless they ruined somebody else's day.
It only takes 1 person to start an angry mob.

a forum where the poster selects their vendor from a drop down and then posts whatever, with details and only the original poster and vendor involved can ever post in the thread?

add a four hour minimum interval between posts

any idea that allows a mob will produce a mob

11 threads that all claim that dave ships slippery cylinders shoddily would be a clear warning in a way that 40 posts in a thread questioning his lineage would not

Let me share this.......

Out of the many saws I've done.......I've had exactly two people that I could not make happy.

Now is that because my saws are something special? Well hell no. It's because I am determined to do whatever it takes to work it out with the guy on the other side of the deal. Out of those two people.......I ended up becoming friends with one of them. There is that one guy though........he hates my guts probably. I finally told him to go pound sand up his ass.
