I bought a Chinese diesel

I got one of them cheap diesels from China, 3hp. I haven’t gotten it to start yet. Tank is almost full with premium diesel. Idk why not much is in the fuel filter. I primed it and it pumped out a little as tho I properly primed it. Then it just won’t start. I think I have the throttle on but it doesn’t seem to work right. Any ideas? I’m not finding the EXACT specific procedure for first start. I’m trying to start it at half throttle. Do I need to hold decomp down all throughout pulling to start or how does that work? I used shell Rotella 15w40 oil.

Try cracking the line at the injector and crank on it (or in your case pull). When you quit seeing bubbles, tighten the line back up.

Yep that was my guess too. Still has air in the fuel line.

Not much benefit other than cool factor

After lots of trying it started a couple times but only for like 2 seconds each. Then after much more trying it started and ran, but smoked white out of air filter box so I shut it off after 9 seconds…………..

With most all diesels air in the fuel like will vapor lock them. You need to get the fuel to the injector without air. You’re having trouble because there is air in the line.

lets see a few pics of the carb and linkage on that beast, I'm super curious what it looks like, typically on diesels the throttle is controled by metering the fuel, not a butterfly like a gas motor has.

Keep it around to have fun running sometimes, maybe put it on a gokart or mini bike frame someday. Maybe make a custom exhaust for it.

Sounds like a lot of money for a kid to spend on something he may use some day but I guess when I was a kid I bought a lot of guns that I did not need. The same with tractors.

That motor will last a lifetime. Rolling coal while riding a minibike, mowing your lawn or running a pressure washer is fun.

By custom exhaust you mean sonething involving this right?
