Those are some of the best small saws ever made. I have the non-countervibe Craftsman version on the wall in my garage as a tribute to my grandpa who had one.

XXV Counter Vibe...

Mine is nowhere as nice looking as yours (plus I am missing the front handle). I did some chainsaw work for a neighbor and he asked if I wanted a chainsaw he didn't want, I said sure and it ended up being this top handle Poulan Super XXV Counter Vibe. It sure is a bright green!! This one is a little different than yours is Mark, this one has a slightly different air box cover and where the handle meets the body at the rear I don't have the anti-vibe rubber connection.

Somebody must have put a different recoil on it then. Anyhoo, excellent little saw. I think the Poulan top handles that came after that one were not nearly as good.

Oh, he can still get the chain in the dirt He just knows how not to...

Bow bars were developed primarily to allow you to buck logs on the ground with less tendency to pinch the bar. Many times bow bars were described as "pinch less" in the advertising.

The inside edge of the bar is narrower than the outside which helps reduce the likelihood of the bar getting pinched even when the log is supported on the ends as you are cutting through it.
