I hope this took some of the mystery out of the AutoTune top handles. They are a bit tedious to work on but with patience it can be done inexpensively.
Excellent thread Joe....no mention of the carb having a kit or ultrasonic clean ? do you leave them alone on the AT saws while servicing or doing a rebuild when they appear to be ok , or is the kit replacement something you do at a given Hrs or Yrs of usage .

I do not open up the AT carbs unless absolutely necessary. The solenoid seals to the carb body with a gasket that is real easy to mess up. Normally I at least put a diaphragm kit in but with these saws it is a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Nice thread. What's your opinion on these once they have some time on them? Do they ever come alive and run like a typical xp husky or are they sluggish even after break in? I ask because I really like the balance and feel of these saws but the two I've used have been very doggy and kinda miserable to use compared to a 200 or 201.

Like most Strato saws they do wake up quite a bit after break in, but it takes a while, like 15-20 tanks. Do they ever get up with a 200, I don't think so, but pretty even with the 201 IMO.

Dragging this one back to the top! @Onan18
Did you replace the crank seals during this build?
I have the Factory bearing/seal installer and it (577714401) has destroyed the seals twice on install.

Try pressing them in. I use my bench vise and a couple sockets. Larger socket on the crankshaft side of the case and matched socket on the seal. Snug it up between the jaws and double check everything is lined up nicely. Slowly tighten the vise and the seal will just slide right in.

Those are the exact same seals on a 200t. I’ve broken a few too. I haven’t broken any since I started doing it this way.

Thanks, I used the bench press on the second set with the proper press sleeve and this is the aftermath.

maybe on the third set I’ll use the ms200t press sleeve, I’ve had good results that way.
