Shields are cheap from HL Supply and if you have the broken tabs then I would advise to get a new one ~!~!

I still couldn't get any spark so I ordered an aftermarket coil module from HL supply. Im starting to wish I had just left this thing under the bench...lol

You'll get it! Hang in there...

I finished my 359 last weekend and considering the condition of it when I got it, I was damn proud of it. :) Next project for myself is my 394 overhaul and mod. After that I'll be taking on my 55. I find it alot of fun to get an old non-running saw back together and running again piece by piece..even if I end up needing a few more pieces I didn't expect.

Thanks. I do enjoy giving something worn out and discarded a new life. Sometimes it just takes more than originally thought. Parts will be here tomorrow so hopefully I can get her to fire before the weekend is up

Got the new coil in and we have spark. I can't keep the flywheel from rubbing on the shield though. It's irritating the hell out of me. Everything is fine until I tighten the recoil bolts. If you hold the recoil and pull it over its fine. I can't tell where it's rubbing. Ugh lol

I've got 2 x 55 w/o the air dam. Works fine as long as you can route plug/kill wires away from flywheel. I'm not sure this "air induction" is more than marketing hype. Maybe there is a mini turbo effect getting to air filter/intake but I highly doubt it.

If it is rubbing it's not the right one or the holes are not lining up ~~

It does line up though. Thats whats making me crazy lol. I double checked with the original shield which is broken in a few spots. It's only when you fully tighten the recoil screws that it rubs. Maybe the plug wire is pushing it back? I'll mess with it again later. I always have the dumbest problems...

Got it. The plug wire was causing the issue. It still won't stay in the tabs but nothing is rubbing anymore. Added some foil heat tape on the top cover to protect from the muffler. Really wish there wasn't that melted part on the clutch cover but ow well. Got it her to pop which was a good feeling. Didn't have time to mess with carb and I don't like running it without bar and chain. I'll probably get 18" .325

Thanks, its really coming together now. Im trying to decide between a GB replaceable tip bar (.325 .050) or Carlton speed tip (.325 .058) in 18". I dont have a way to pressure test so thats my main worry now. We will see how it goes getting the carb adjusted...

I have run a newly overhauled saw with no B&C before... But I did it with no clutch and was VERY gentle on the throttle. I just wanted to see if it would start and take some throttle. It shouldn't hurt a thing so long as you don't piss-rev it. Just like firing up a 2-stroke bike or wheeler and letting it warm a bit before putting it in gear and taking off. Gentle on the throttle....

Lookin good!

Thanks. I will run it some but I had a clutch go flying off before lol.

I ended up ordering a GB arbor pro bar from left cost supplies. I'm not crazy about the orange color ( .325×.050 18") and I'm pretty sure these are made in China now. But I got it with an Oregon chisel chain shipped for cheaper than one Carlton or total bar. So we will see how it goes.

I've shot clutches down the driveway into neighbors backyard. The deceleration is what gets you.
