I tried running a 24" 176 mount bar today (fits Echos and most everything the other big mounts don't fit). It was looking good compatibility wise, but was dumping half the oil out of the side of the clutch cover due to the oversized combo oil/tensioner holes, leaving the chain kinda dry and me covered in oil. Otherwise the 550 had good power in red oak with the 3/8 full skip chain. I'd fill and redrill the tensioner holes if I wanted to run a 176 mount, and the only reason to do that is for the length availability.

They have an outboard clutch and require a unique clutch removal tool, though you might be able to grind or weld a tool for it.

You can buy K095 24” bars. Unless I’m misunderstanding something?

I don't see that many around, but gone are the longer than 24" k095 as far as I know. Not that there's much of a need for >24" bars on a <60cc saw.

I kind of think of an "idiot proof loaner" as a saw you don't mind throwing away when you are done with it, kind of like a cheap chain. This would be more along the line of a free saw fixed up for minimal cost, like Jacob stated, a Wood Shark or Wild Thing...

Get friendly with a manager at Tractor Supply, let them know you would be happy to buy any store returns they are going to just toss out, I got a Husky 455 for $5.00, only about two tanks through it and just had to clean it up and file the burs off of the chain drivers from the chain jumping off. I loaned this to a friend while I rebuild his Husky 61 (new bearings and other minor parts).

I have a few 350s am I am going to be rebuilding, perfect for your needs if you are interested. Cheap and you will not have to cry once they toast the top end.

I've found people shouldn't borrow or use things that are above their pay grade. These are the only semi-idiot proof and quiet "loaners" I would even consider.

My biggest issue with lending a saw out is getting them to keep the chain sharp. They seem to think if it can cut thru wood then dirt is no problem.
