Sadly yes... the persistent off idle bog got so bad that it stalled just about every time I hit the throttle. I’ve been thinking about getting it going again but it would cost ALOT. I might get another one someday.
What’s so expensive about updating the carb and having the firmware updated?

I never had too many issues with the 5 series saws. My 371 has been a solid saw as well

Its the total cost of the rebuild, not just buying the latest carb and updating the firmware.
Did you score or take bearings? Guess I missed something, you said it had off idle bog, didn’t catch the part that’s blown up. I’ll say this after running 500 series saws it’d be dam hard going back to 200 series other than play saws. 300 series are really nice but the 500 series is just that much more comfortable to me anyway

The 6 screw bottom end was the one that the pto side bearing went on. Ran fine one minute, made a squeak noise and stopped. Took the clutch off and the seal was chewed up and could see some remains of Nylon caged bearings poking through the seal.

Sounds like you need a 572 not a 562 lol? Cost me 200.00 ish to rebuild a 572 with a shortblock kit (complete new assembled case with all new bottom end parts/crank/bearings ect). I think the rings were 20 bux can’t remember.

Did one of your 572 take a dump or someone else’s you fixed? I got mine last week, muff modded it right a way. Got 1-1/2 gallons through it is all so far. I really like it. Not sure I’ll even port it after running it

Muffler mod really seems to help and I agree good performance with just a muffler job. I finally wore out the pto bearing between crank and bearing. Had 300 or so hours on the unit, forget exactly how much the computer readout said. I swapped all the parts to a shortblock (cylinder/piston still in good condition) and I’ve put about 80 hours on it since.

562 short blocks were under 200 last I knew too
I think it’s a lot cheaper doing the shortblock if you consider all the new parts your getting as a package... rather than throwing money away at a old wore out set of cases and wore out crank. It makes rebuilding easy too.

I agree, I was going to use it for a parts saw and buy another... but when I found out how relatively cheap it would be to rebuild it I decided to do that. Kind of a no brainer with those shortblocks. I wish stihl, echo and dolmar did that.

I can’t figure how they sell them so cheap especially if you priced out the parts individually! I did the same to a 562 a while back. Got the short block from Bob, it was like $160 shipped, HL had them cheaper than that not long ago
