The 266 and all other piston and cylinder combos that went on this chassis are all rock solid. The 266s I've ran and ran have been just a little bit more torque then the 162 or 630. Even the husky 61 or Johnny 625 are dam good runners.

The aftermarket 55 muffler's are very well made and will fit the 266
They are 8.00
If you want to save the oem muffler.
The aftermarket 268/272 muffler's suck
I've had a few the thin welds broke loose around the tube's.

The muffler on mine is actually in awesome shape and I never knew that a 55 would fit on a 266. Learn something new everyday.

What do you guys think I should do for a Mufkin mod? I have deflectors of all sizes and have a few pieces of 3/4" pipe layin around as well. My Uncle @RIDE-RED 350r did a pipe muff mod on his 288 and it sounds freakin nasty.
Sorry I haven't replied in a while.... Had to catch up on scheool work. It sucks to get behind... BUT, since I only have 2 classes it was a heck of a lot easier to catch up than say 8 classes. So, got muh grades up to "passing" and they are only gonna keep goin up. As of right now, my English grade is now a 72 (from a 27) and my Social studies grade is a 61 now ( was a 22 before). Gonna keep chuggin along.

2 classes, you’re lucky! I’ve got 8 and they’re all crazy tough. But I’m kind of a dumass so that’s probably why lol.

I like a 1" pipe but If I had deflectors lying around I would use one.

I'm SO glad I didn't fail my other classes last year. One of my biggest problems is that I am just friggin' lazy... guess I has the brains because I passed my Freshmen year with an over all average of 92%.

Hit the books hard Austin. You owe it to yourself. Always do your best in everything you do in life. It will follow through with you for the rest of your time here on earth.
It's what separates YOU from the rest of the kids your age.
You're a very respectful young man.
We can put it in saw terms. You can run a stock saw that is not in tune. It cuts. Just not at its respective capabilities. OR you can run a ported saw. A saw that gives everything it has. A saw that runs at max capacity and performs the way it should...
NOW. Don't take it the wrong way here. We're not talking a saw that it ported to the ragged edge. We're talking a nicely ported saw for both power and longevity. With proper maintenence, the saw will last a lifetime and beyond.
I think you catch my drift... Lol

You can double up deflectors but I never needed to on a 266/268/272 but on
281/288 yes

I whipped this one up last night for this 61 to 272 build. Wasn't anticipating running the 268/272 style top cover so I started with a 266 muffler that had already had the deflector in the opening removed and the internal baffle punched out. Can see daylight through it. Deflector is a piece of a bed frame leg I had laying around.
