Husqvarna 181 thin ring question

I was given a thin ring 181 carcass. The piston and cylinder are good. I've heard the rings are NLA. I think I saw somewhere a Stihl o64 ring is 52mm x 1.3 mm. If I'm correct would that ring work in my 181?

If you have the thin-ring piston saw, then no. Those rings are about .024" thick which is just over 0.5mm. There's new thin rings out there, it's just a matter of finding them.
If you have the single thick-ring piston then that ring is 1.5mm thick and those are plentiful.

Stihl rings and newer Husqvarna rings are 1.2mm.

Try homelite rings i used them in a jonny 920 works great

Or find a machinist with a surface grinder, pretty easy to take on down to whatever size you need ;-) [emoji106]

Were those the right gap when you got them or did you have to gap them? The set I bought fit almost perfectly.

They where perfect the guy is milling with it now for about a year
