I got a question for you guys.. I use stihl saws, I just got used to then and add to the family...., but I was wondering about the husky 560..

what max bar length would you use on it for ripping wood, soft and hard.. let’s talk about 3/8 or .325 And the size of bar. You don’t need to go in-depth just max size and gauge..soft and hard

Btw I’m really asking for a friend here.
Cheers...

Imo, I wore out 2 in commercial thinning, a real nice saw on a 15" bar, I would not attempt to mill with them, very high revving saw

I used a 562 to do the noodling when I blocked up this red oak last fall. Three noodling cuts in the end, then bucked them off with the Jonny in the pic. It got HOT! Real hot, like bar oil running like water hot. I had the muffler opened up pretty good too. I wouldn't expect to do that kind of work on a regular and have it last. Just my .02.20190828_160113.jpg

I agree with above. That's not a saw I would regularly use for milling logs with any size to them. I would say 24" max would have you cutting about 20"ish wood.

About the last saw I would pick on the face of the earth to mill with lol. I can’t keep a 562 running worth a darn after temps climb past about 75-80 degrees ambient. Run into vapor locking problems. The main contributor is the heat blowing off the cylinder onto the handlebar which in turn heats the gas tank boiling the fuel in it if you run them hard enough. The saw running hot and holding heat doesn’t help either. The 572 they fixed the design flaw by adding a air baffle to direct the air away from the handlebar and adding a heat barrier. The 572 I’ve ran in 95 degrees with no problems. I’ve given 562’s 2 chances and I’m done with them as far as I’m concerned for my usage.
