I had a leaking Welch plug that when the saw sat it would flood on its own. Of course when I try to start it I'd choke it and make it worse. About 25 pulls with choke off and wot would get it going, then it would smoke a bit til it cleaned up.

Did you put a brand new carb kit in it? If not then there's your problem right there.
Another problem I can think of is a broken spark plug terminal. They like to snap in half inside the boot. They connect when you test for spark but when you stretch them back to the plug they lose connection.

I haven't had a chance to even look at it for the last two days, trenched a electric line out to my shop and rebuilt the hydrostatic drive in my JD175 tractor so that I could get the lawn mowed. Some times it's best to walk away for a while and then look at it from a fresh start. Thanks for asking and I'll keep you informed.

Two ways to pressure and vacuum test
1. use the OEM plates, and spacers
2. off the shelf stuff, piece of inner tube, rubber, tape, etc between the muffler and cylinder and one between the carburetor and intake Then use a spark plug adapter. You can make one from and old plug, epoxy, and a pipe nipple. The Husqvarna adapter is less than $10 503 84 40-02.

If you do go down the spark plug hole to feed in Vac/Pressure ...don't forget to make sure the piston is in such a place that the transfers are open to the top end .You will only go to .05 bar so a path straight to the crankcase is preferable. I maybe quoting the obvious to someone who knows...apologies if thats the case.:)

  1. STOP THE PRESSES! NEWS RELEASE! SAWS START BETTER WHEN THE FUEL LINE IS HOOKED TO THE CARBURETOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well this is why we walk away and rest awhile, I looked at the saw this am and found that the fuel line was over the carb barb and not on it. I hooked up the line and it fired on the third pull and idled fine. Thanks for all the input and I will now adjourn to somewhere that I can kick my own ________________

Glad you got it figured out. We've all had those homer simpson moments. Good job walking away and resetting.

Yaaayyy! Glad u got it!! Haha. Would u mind snapping a pic or saying how the fuel line is ran from tank to carb? I don't know how it's supposed to go and seems to get pinched or interfere with choke. Thanks!!!

good ya got it going. Sometimes ya just gotta take a break from these two strokes. They can be quite frustrating at times and thats usually when its something simple.
