I did a comparison on my chain. It was several pages back I think, If not I can repost. The square was smoother and self fed better. Raker hight was .025 on both

Thanks Jeff. That chain was actually one of the first ones I learned to square file, some of the cutters had been filed down to nubs from trial and error.lol Decided to make a lil play chain out of it.

I am on a better track here. Thanks for all the input. It has really helped me figure it out. I still have lots of work to do, but I am getting better. I have a slight rearward cant to the side of the tooth I have to figure out now. Angles, angles, angles.
I am anxious to get this chain in some wood and see how it performs.
I see now how guys put hours in race chains. :beer:

I drill a hole in a golf ball, makes a great file handle.

I think his idea would still work well though. Drill it tight and tap it on. A golf ball is soft enough and would still conform to the shape of the file
