Hey Skeans, slight derail but kinda related, in order to post your video did you have to go thru YouTube? I’ve got a 51 second vid of a handfiled chain in a backcut and it says” file to big” or something like that. The guy from Switzerland hasn't replied. I'd like to get a couple to try 'em out. Here's another pic he posted to help someone. Finish looks damn good to me.

Could be ground for all I know.
I have tried one in my jig. Without modification it's hard to get the roll of the file proper.I’ve mounted a 3 sided triangle file in it with some inserts I made, but it was not practical.
I hate those files.
efcoWhich jig?
Fwiw, double bevels fit into these as long as it has the triangle shaped ends on the file holder shown in the upper right

But I've been practicing free hand anyways so I dont need the jig but it would be nice to compare free hand against.
I haven't tried the double. The triangle fits but like I said, without modification the file wants to sit square to the thumb screw but needs a certain roll angle on the file to get the side plate correct. It could be made to work though. Just decided to man up and free hand. The older jigs had the triangle shape ends. Not sure if the double bevel will fit in your Granberg or not
Yes!!!
Some of us have Portuguese grinders.
