That is what i have been aiming for ,make the corner strong and get more work done .Those angles will wear better than a round filed full chisel..
Big, square, beautiful cutter edges. With lotsa metal to support the working corner.
@JWYounger told me that square could be made durable as anything years ago at a Gtg in AR.
He was right!
Ahh. Yeah I think you could have won that class with a good chain easily.Naaaa..
Remember the custom round chain they wouldn't let me use for the loggers class?
I just filed a flat top plate on it last night.
And increased the top plate angle.
Gonna be a chain for pine and cottonwood.
That looks like a good work chain ,have you played with .404 yet ? stuff is pretty durable ,even if bump the ground .View attachment 18192
One of my 115dl work chains.
.404 consists of a 72" bar of skip, and 2 loops of 36" for the 084.That looks like a good work chain ,have you played with .404 yet ? stuff is pretty durable ,even if bump the ground .
What was the top angle on this one?View attachment 18109
Extra pokey
Takes a lot of focus to not get into the side plate like that. Looks crazy sharpView attachment 18109

I feel guilty after 12 tanks, so I swap chains with a fresh one, but I could easily get more with my 404i prefer to grind a chain that will last at least 8 tanks of fuel now before have to swap it out
Looks Nice! But, Don't you file your rakers down?View attachment 18109

Still a full raker. Probably get a little faster the lighter it gets.View attachment 18222
Just made a test run with this one on the mutt..
I like. Guess it's worth finishing.
On a couple of the bigger saws, I may set them a little.. The best answer is to get em to cut fast, with high rakers.Looks Nice! But, Don't you file your rakers down?
