This was an idea after I sharpened one of my knives with a ceramic rod. Homemade 5" long ceramic tile honing stone. The tile piece was cut 45 degrees so the back had the 135 angle like a square file. Then thinned down and slightly trimmed up. I tried to get the same angle and zoom for the pics. The corner was hit with about 20 strokes back and forth while pushing up in the corner then about 20 strokes back and forth with wd40. The top plate and corner is at least twice as sharp as just with the file. Hard to tell with the side plate. I do not think it is some thing I would do unless I was going to race a chain.

I like that! I've been toying with the idea of building a round wheel for the simington out of ceramic to put a nice finish on em!

I picked the piece of 12 x 12 Italian stuff for 50 cents at a re-purpose place. There was 6 in tile that was just about the right thickness so would require none or almost no thinning. It only came in the whole box though.

With a steady hand a person could easily cut a tile pretty close to round on a 7" tile saw. To be more precise a person could drill a small centered hole, secure a bolt in the saw table from the underside for a center point rotation, drop the tile down on the bolt for the start of the cut then rotate. Set the table at a 45 and table guide just under the circle diameter for the angle and take it to the blade. Drill center hole larger to the arbor diameter with a carbide bit.

It's only an idea on how I might do. There's usually a better way though...

I’ve been experimenting again. Mainly goofing around with rakers trying figure how to make them clear better without letting crap through to the cutter behind it. I think I need to make the face flatter, I’m getting there.

Oh the pain of not having a nice chain vice...lol

I converted this round ground chain to square. Takes a lot more than I thought it would. This chain was a little over half used when I started.

Knocked this out before work this AM. Nothing special, just a work chain.
