If my maffs are correct, there’s 128 cubic feet in a full cord (4x4x8=128). The standard wheel barrow size is 3 cubic feet. So there is roughly 42 wheel barrows worth of wood in a cord.

I should start selling split firewood by the wheelbarrow for $30 a pop - I’d make a killin!

Out side of many stores and gas stations they sell 5 split pieces for $5.99 - $9.99, the wheelbarrow load would be a bargain!!
Holy smokes they are rippin people off! They sell small bundles like that around here too, but last I remember they were only about $4.99 or so.

I was figuring 4cf-6cf per wheelbarrow, so I say 22-32 loads to a cord. I would lean more to the higher number if you're trying to prepare an estimate.

The wheelbarrow marketing just makes city slickers feel warm and fuzzy that they are buying a good amount of wood. In reality, it’s not any better. But brilliant, really. And like most products I suppose, buying in bulk (cord) should be cheaper than only buying a little at a time..

Point being that just saying wheelbarrow it could be any amount depending on size of said wheelbarrow.

Never tried fatwood but a good handful of noodling noodles make for some good firestarter.

grandparents back in the day used chainsaw dust mixed with used motor oil, probably frowned on today.

wonder if a person compressed saw dust mixed with melted paraffin wax and formed into cubes what the profit margin would equal:thinking:.

I get about 18-20 wheelbarrow loads per cord if I stack it on there. Around 35-40 splits/load, sometimes more. Around 700-800 splits per cord
My son stacks 50-60 splits on the wheelbarrow, which looks more like a rolling jenga tower. He can't maneuver with it like that, but he can move a pile of wood in a hurry across flat ground.

Edit: actually, my numbers are off, a cord for me would probably be around 600-700 pieces because I cut them a bit longer, 17-18".
