You know what, you're absolutely right! It's the principle of the thing!
So instead of spending 25¢ and three minutes to fix the problem once and for all, you should just say FUKKIT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FIX IT ... and run it the way it is ... and then burn up your $1000 saw simply because your air filter flops around in its housing like an empty beer can in a bucket at the beach.

The fact is, it’s not his saw. It’s a company saw, that means anyone can and will run it. Washers and extra stuff get lost, filter bases and nuts don’t get greased. Just how it goes, Ryan is just making a point that 2018 Stihl saws suck balls in the air filtration engineering department

You should put a sticker on it .That will solve the problem .
Side note ,when you run the hd2 filter a dual port muffler cover is mandatory ,it helps blow the dust away from the carb area .
