Well, I had a good productive day in the woods and shop. Jason and I added to the already huge pile of good clean wood to cut on the fifth. These stems are good and strait, 6 to 16 inches in diameter, long and strait. Should be a good time!

Put me down as a most likely for charity cut. Unless we get a snow storm. Frost is just now leaving the ground with lots of very soft mud.

What can I bring to help?

Alan, I found the engine for your old Chevy project...

Sitting on the back of it maybe!

Maybe a Super Split? They would work really good with all of the nice strait, medium sized wood. The way in which we go about attacking the tops really depend on the amount of mud here also.

What about log handling?
Covered? Or do we need a tractor?
That also depends on the amount of mud. I was planning on doing it kinda like the Norwood cut, a group of boys hauling rounds with tractor and trailer to splitters staged at the woodshed elevator, or other convenient location. After the shed is full we will just pile it in a easily accessible location. The terrain is almost all very steep, except for a small area in the bottom along the creek.
I can have a pile of limbed tops ready, but this would mean a lot of dirt and rocks to cut with our saws. The tops are easily accessible where they lay, and a bunch of young boys need something to do!

Sounds good to me. If the tractor and trailer is covered, I'll just bring the splitter.

I plan on bringing my splitter, and the kubota RTV. I may bring a small trailer to pull behind the kubota also; it can be loaded with wood and hauled to the splitters. I have invited some people to come. I don't have any commitments right now.

If I am the only one coming, I will just bring the splitter.

Are there going to be as many people at this cut as there was at Norwood?

When and Where will this be? I'm trying to see I I can make it and maybe drag Dad out to drink coffee. He wants to help cut at one of these but his MRI just showed that he has a ton rotator and torn bicep at the shoulder both so he won't be cutting anytime soon...:(

On a brighter note the Mastermoobed 346 is back and runs like a scalded cat. It was pulling a 20" bar(3/8"x.050) in cured mulberry at least as well as the 261 and probably a bit better. I'm stoked and he will be when he recoups after surgery enough to do the same.

Seymour, MO. See your there.

Well it's Monday. Lets get after it.

Boogety, boogety, boogety....

I won't be working today, going to Arkansas for a funeral. My "step-uncle" passed away. He knew the Lord and was a Vietnam veteran with 20 yrs in the Marine Corps. He was a former Drill Instructor and wore a Marine hat or shirt his whole life. He always loved the fact that I am a Marine too, but that is what Marines do. Semper Fi Uncle Leon, rest in peace brother.

Anyhow, let the good times roll today...
