Morning fellow Wood Knot's!

Nice to see you visit Randy, you should come around more often.

Everyone have a safe day,

Chet

I just got home from visiting my mom, and seeing my brother in the hospital. I'll try to check in more often.

Nice to see progress. I'm on my third concrete contractor that the building supplier has referred. I'd like to find one that will carry through with his promises. None have taken the time to go far enough to even provide an estimate. Close to telling the building supplier that I want my money back. I think three months is long enough to wait for some action. That seems to be a common trend lately Steve.

Catching up after all the rain around here. I know my neighbor is.
He leaves at 5 and comes home after 2 pm.

Yes it is a trend Matt...My neighbor is having the same problem trying to get a concrete contractor. He calls, gets an appt., and they either never show, or they show and never hear from them again. Not sure how many he has went through.

Went through the same thing about 15 years ago when I built my shop and deck. I wanted a 24x24 pad for my shop and a 24x24 foundation added to the back of my house for the deck. Later, if I decide to, I can build an extra room onto my house. Called up about a dozen concrete contractors. Only one came out and took the job. Took about 6 weeks to do the job and got took for about 3 grand above what we had agreed upon. I learned a hard lesson there. Most concrete guys ar'nt interested in doing individual projects. Now, if I were building a subdivision, I couldn't beat them off with a club.

Last guy was like that. He was honest and said that it would be 5-6 weeks before he would get to it because he would have to work it in between his big jobs or might get to it quicker if there was a holdup on them.

Need to have a concrete GTG at your place, Steve. I'm sure there's enough people here to help out. If you need any assistance, I'll be happy to help.
Shoot, I even restrung my own venition blinds once AND stayed in a Holiday Inn Express, too.

Big problem is the "wonderful" Greene County inspectors. I think that contributes to the lack of interest the contractors have due to battling and waiting for them. The last contractor informed me that the clock would be running while waiting for the inspectors.[emoji34]

Damn shame what has happened to "our" country.

Here we don't have that sort of stuff to worry about.

I actually like pouring and finishing concrete. Trouble is, I'm getting too old for that stuff.

If a man has to end up doing it himself, just break it into smaller pours, use #4 rebar at the joints, and drink lots of water.

My brother did concrete for 15-20 yrs. He is very very good; built parking garages, highways, bridges, repair on anything, etc. He was so good, the company he last worked for contracted him out to other companies to get stuff done. Other companies would call and want to borrow him for special projects.

Between the many yrs of concrete and a bad wreck at a young age he is physically broken down. I would ask him to help or supervise but he is "finished". He tried to help a crew a few months ago. He bent down and couldn't get back up. Laid there for about an hour as the crew had gone to lunch. They still call him for help, but he just cusses them out and says, "What !@#$% part of I am finished do you not understand? Don't call me ever again to do concrete!!!!" I hate seeing him in the shape he is in. He and I are the closest in age and grew up together before the other brothers came along.
