Well this is my 2 cents, might not amount to a hill of beans. I’d stick with these guys on ope for sure. Mastermind, huskihl, treemonkey, scarr, David young, rattler, CFB. I don’t know this guy you mentioned, and I’m not saying anything bad about him. But before I became a member on ope, I went down this road. All the feed back of this is the best saw of this series I’ve built etc etc. Im not trying sell work for these guys, but you will get what you paid for. And they stand behind what they do. That means something to an old plug like myself.

Something tells me that there are probably only a couple hundred of Jack’s saws out there in customers’ hands.. I think his YouTube marketing probably made his brand sound more popular than what it really is. What I’m getting at is that we don’t see any because there aren’t many.

I believe he can make good running saws, but I also believe his best running $1400 port job runs similar to a normal port job from someone else

That's a good point. Perhaps he only does local saws too and that would limit the saws to a particular area. If every build is associated to one of his videos that would be a good indication of how many saws he's ported.

This.
There are only so many things you can do with a 2-stroke chainsaw motor. I didn’t know about the $1400 port job!!! 😱

As I understand it, he has quite a lengthy questionnaire that potential customers need to fill out. He has sort of a user agreement where you agree not to remove parts or share pictures of his work on your saw. I don’t know of a forum member who has ever made it through the questionnaire. He doesn’t like forum guys for whatever reason

Yes he has quite a few catchy names. Zip kit, insano, psycho… Lol. I think one is just a muffler mod and timing advance, one is a port job without any lathe work, and the $1400 one is the whole ping chow shebang

I guess at that point he has grounds to take legal action against his customer if they break the contract. So whomever does have his saws is too afraid to share?

Doesn't he also do something with the carbs?

I don’t really know. Just what I’ve gathered over the years

I agree with pretty much everything you said, but if you are going to make a list, Shaun Carr has to be on it.

I believe he’s just giving his own experience from the saws he has had ported.

No doubt Shaun is an incredible saw builder

Most definitely, scarr did an 064 for me and it’s outstanding. I corrected my list, which I’m sure there’s many more that could be added. I don’t know how that slipped my mind. It’s so many of you guys on here that do amazing work. And scarr is definitely one that should be mentioned. Speaking of which, that reminds me I haven’t ran that thing in a long time. I’m fixing to go cut sumfin lol.

Just took my 064 out this week. No regrets, they’re a hoot to run. Is yours an early or late model?
