It looks like it might be a VI 955. I found this site, about halfway down is a VI 955

It has A/V so it is likely the 955 as the 925 is, unfortunately, devoid of that nice feature.

Pull the muffler and measure the bore. That might narrow it down a little bit.

The VI 944 should have a decompression valve in the cylinder. The VI 955 doesn't. That should be an easy visual check.

That's a VI-955, I have one sitting on the bench.

This is where the serial plate should be. It's possible that the carb box got replaced and the plate wasn't put on the new one.

Got this xl870 today. And a pic of my running homelite collection. (Have a few more that need work)

Recent evilbay buy. Fuel line and filter. Carb was good to go after sitting overnight with fuel in him.

I haven’t had a SXL in the pile in several years.

Does anyone know the max rpm for a 1050 auto. Acresinternet says 10.5 but I read an old post on another forum that says that is too high.

Points and no brake or handguard in 1982. Yep, that be Homelite. Heck, they were still cataloguing the Super Wiz at that time!

Canadian version, 77cc. I don't think any of the XL-900 series built in Canada came in 82cc. A lot of the 925's were built up here and I suspect they were 82cc. Most of them ended up in the US.
I have a SXL-922 with an 82cc top end which was likely a replacement.

The VI922 is not common and this one is fairly nice. Runs like a top.

Picked up this today, Homelite 550, has killer compression and nothing broken, I have another for spares if needed that has a busted rear handle.

Came in a plastic ‘coffin’ with paper goods.
