Did you read his whole long a$$ post? He saw it and is aware from what I read. Randy has asked multiple times for proof of work. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand about Randy’s position if you’ve read a few pages of posts.
No, I didn't read his whole post - TLDR. My point is that it feels strange if forum moderator starts a thread about someone and calls him to react - and that person is ignoring it....

Although new to this forum, I'm not new to forums in general. Been on them since 2005.
Ive been following this entire ordeal. Being newish here, I'd like to offer my opinion for anyone that gives a chit.

Soliciting services at said price points with no proof of service quality is a no go. Anyone that would think otherwise and purchase said work without proof, is being ignorant and asking for a failed transaction. Being nontransparent with your quality of work is a red flag in my opinion.
Example, I don't hire an electrician to roof my house unless he shows me previous roofing jobs and the tools required to complete said roof project. Even then, he better be at a better price point because he isn't an expert in that field.

The same goes for saws I personally rebuild. I don't have a reputation rebuilding saws. But I've sold quite a few of which cases have been split. And when I do so, I take ample pictures and videos of the reassembly process to show a potential buyer everything that has been completed. Transparency...

Maybe there is, and I don't know it, but a rule could be established saying, "solicitation of work is not allowed unless being posted in the LF port work thread." Anyone not following this rule gets banned. AND with that, people that want to advertise work in that section must pay to promote (which most already do<I think>).
That would required the proof to be in the pudding before ever taking a bite.

(I failed a math test once because even though I knew how to do the trigonometry in my head and on my calculator, I didn't show my work.)

Excellent post sir. Shows common sense. We're lucky to have you as a member considering how rare common sense is these days.

I haven’t read the bench post. I wonder why it’s there and not here.

I think it should be posted plainly somewhere not to solicit work without paying to be a vendor. Maybe it is and I missed it. I’m paying just so I can lose $ selling some reproduced NLA 266 full wrap adapters, ha!

Also, if it’s gonna be a hard and fast rule, I think it should be plainly/conspicuously posted that you gotta prove yourself before soliciting work.

I agree with all this David. I'll get Bruce to amend the forum rules to state these things. We'll need some hyper-links on the main pages encouraging people to read the rules too I think.

Bruce is at the moment on vacation, so these changes will have to wait till he is back, and settled in.

Let whoever wants get a hopped up saw from him, but make sure You all don't rush in to fund a fix if it ends sideways!

Simple as that!

This "ported saw or no saw at all" is kinda getting tiresome.
But that's just me and I have been told that I am wired wrong!

I feel like enough people have been *frenched by charlatans and bunkos that asking someone for proof of work, pictures, videos etc...well it's a pretty friendly way to make sure no one else gets boned.

Shame some are weirded by this.

I figure they took more of an offence to the way I asked than to the actual idea of it. This mess started in a semi private thread that most on the forum don't even know exists. In that thread I asked Kenny for pictures of his tools. I knew getting an image from him was gonna be akin to pulling a tooth, so I asked pretty forcefully........and wound up getting angry with Kenny's reaction to being asked for these pictures. (I am at times......no, that's not the right way to say it). I always get pissed off pretty damn quickly. I wish I could say that I will learn to better control my quick temper, but I know better. The way I am today is miles ahead of the way I was when I was younger. This is probably as good as I'm ever gonna be. So......Kenny pissed me right the *f-word off. And I started this thread while I was pissed. For not taking a minute to chill out was wrong......but here we are, and I'm still sticking with what I said. No proof of ability, no sales.

People are a strange lot. There is no way to predict how they will react to anything.

Personally, I've moved thru several stages of emotion over this. Where I'm at right now is pure bullheadedness. I'm gonna stand my ground and let the chips fall where they may.

I respect the intestinal fortitude you have. Not many people do...

People forget you are one of the people that deal with the forum mishaps more than anyone and are left with the mess...

If they can't understand that...

Well..you know. .

If this was a “public” space like bookface I’d say let him post and sell and buyer beware, we are all adults.

But this is a private space, so ownership has rules...no sellin’ (port work I assume, we all sell stock saws) without payin’ and proving your stuff first.

I have been dealing with Kenny on the 200t’s I had for sale just recently so have texted with him several times as of late. I had no idea any of this was going on at all because I haven’t been reading on here a tons as of late. He is definitely hard to understand at times ect but in no way feel I’ll get hosed on this transaction because I wont ship until I get payment. I agreed to give him time to come up with funds but not forever and if it takes to long I will relist and allow whoever wants some to get a chance starting in order from previous add. After hearing somewhat of what’s been going on I went back in different threads to read it all to make my own mind up. In my texts with Kenny I have tried to explain how all the different sides are looking at it from my prospective. I have told him that he has ideas that are hard at times to understand and photos would help with this. I also told him that even though you feel you have nothing to prove that actually he kinda does because nobody will send you hard earned money to port a saw without seeing work. He feels people are piling on him ect and I also can understand how he does to a point but told him it’s in his power to end all of this by showing porting pictures and a saw he did running ect. Nobody is worried about sharing ideas on here that I’m aware of, any time I’ve asked anyone a question in a pm I get answers to the best they can and why they think that. Overall everyone I’ve met on here or in person has been great and I enjoy being part of this. Randy, doc, Kevin, Canadian farm boy, tree monkey, stump shot and a host of others I have forgot to list always take time to answer. Kenny I do believe is a good person too and wish he would just show pictures, I don’t consider him a someone who lies but I do believe he embellishes some also and I’m guilty of stretching the truth on occasion like many others are. I have actually been sent some porting photos from him and while nothing extraordinary was shown it looked fine from what was there. No I won’t post pictures because I promised him I wouldn’t but urged him to do it on his own so this will all straighten out. And it will just a matter of perspective and letting the pride go on all sides at times. I also believe that the photos of builds needs to be a requirement to sell solicit your port work. Sorry for the long post.

The paying isn't a requirement unless you are advertising on the forum. If you just post up the sale threads that you have a saw to sell, it doesn't matter if it's ported or not, you don't have to be a site sponsor to sell it. An ad for services in your sig is cheap.....but required. A flashing ad on the header is more of course. And a person who types spammy threads in severely broken English that has a flashing ad on the header wasn't paying enough regardless of how much it was. So there is a limit.....and there are rules in place. Some are unwritten rules as you pointed out, and that will soon change.

Yes I did until the evidence presented swayed my opinion. Then I began to see a little bit clearer. You have got to take into consideration that most people arent privy to the information that you are. I dont live and breathe this forum nor am I a builder. I spent alot of money with him . And I appreciate the members, sawmikazee, that found out what he was all about and the many that came to the rescue to right his wrongs. But I've still got a 661 that was done by him that is a strong saw. And that was the last one he built for me. But you aint going to form my opinion and what I state to beleive is fact. I form my own opinions on my own experiences. Period. It takes evidence. I asked one simple question: has anybody contacted him in private to discuss? Have you ever done something that was *frenched up to realize later that it was wrong? I know the answer to that question. Probably more times then you want to admit. Have I done anything to harm anybody intentionally on this forum? Stating ones opinion is just that. Opinions can change. Did I hit a nerve to elicit that response. I thought that the purpose of this forum was to be civil and bring disagreements offline. Evidently I was wrong. You wont hear from me again on this topic.

I can't take all the credit for that, there was 3 of us that were on to it..I was just the one who had the balls to start bustin' his.

I'm still mad at myself for that. Had I had one word with him before I boxed that saw up it would've never went, I just took people's word for it that seemed like good guys. I broke my own rule..and paid for it. I'm still in debt to Kevin for helping with the sting on that one...what's mine is his..

Only thing I can figure is some of these guys live in Mayberry and don't know shady/shifty people from their ass. I figured that dude out in 6 text messages..some people it took 15 saws..

I guess we're all "different"..

I don't know about others here, but I think this is a fair ask.
That's what I don't understand. Why stonewall on that request? If I was in Kenny's position and I was on the up and up, I'd relish providing proof and I'm sure Randy would like to be proven wrong on this because there have been far to many scammers here in the past already. I don't understand the secretive behavior. To me it doesn't prove he is a scammer but it also does nothing in his favor either.
