Black Coffin, what loads do you use in the 6.5? Everybody fawns over H4350, however I find it does great with faster powders. 8208 is an awesome powder with low charge weights. I've been wanting to try it in all my other cartridges but it's been extinct for years around here. I'm down to my last few ounces and saving it for 6.5 hunting ammo.

I’m running h4350. Currently running 130 Berger otm at 2850fps, got a few thousand plinking bullets but the otm is the one I use in PRS competitions. I’ve got about 36lbs of h4350 so I’m set for awhile haha. I’ll be using the same powder in my up and coming 7 saum project and potentially a 6.5prc so having plenty is good.

Both rifles pictured are shooting sub 1/2” groups at 100yds. Usually I can go out and do .3” with them.

That .25 Creedmoor sounds awesome. I'm a big fan of the .257 Roberts and have a rebarrelled Howa 1500 so chambered.

With the support it’s getting recently, Berger has a 133 and 135gr bullet that will bet me the same velocity as the 130 6.5 Berger but with a large bump in ballistic coefficient. What’s not like like about that?!
Fine shot placement at that distance!
Thank you! Feels good when practice pays off.

Picked up a new rifle today, Cooper M52 Timberline in 280 Ackley Improved + Leupould VX5HD. Looking forward to working up cartridges. Factory guaranteed 1/2 MOA. I think that should be easily doable if you see the test target they sent with the rifle.

Comp Rifle

Tikka Tac A1 6.5 creedmoor
Swapped factory barrel out after about 1700rds
Now has a 27” benchmark heavy palma
Vortex razor Gen 2 4.5-27x56 scope

currently have barrels on order to chamber it in 6 and 25 creedmoor…just because I like more than one flavor.View attachment 354754View attachment 354753
What muzzle brake you using? I've got a T3x lite in 6.5 CM for deer. I love the rifle but the factory radial brake is pretty lame. Was thinking about a directional brake or suppressor for it. TBH, it doesn't need it and I don't use it for hunting, but would be nice for range days.

I'm the biggest recoil wimp you ever met, and I don't think the 6.5 needs a brake. In fact, I think a .30-30 with hard buttplate is more painful.

Speaking of which, I have my 1978 Winchester 94 some exercise today. Load was 170 grain Hornady over 30 grains IMR 4064, which has always shot well for me. This box of ammo was made with Remington large rifle Magnum primers just because I have a bunch that need to be used and I figured they would work well enough for practice. Wrong answer! At 80 yards they were vertical stringing a full foot.

I have read that magnum primers can actually push the bullet down the bore before the powder ignites properly, causing all kinds of weirdness. I hope that is all that happened, 'cause otherwise it means there is something majorly wrong with the rifle and/or the trigger puller.

MBM brakes. He has a lot to choose from, this one is a self timing break so diameter isn’t a little larger. He makes some smaller ones as well.

Totally agree. Suppressor would be nice, though. Def not brake for my uses.

Took the new gun out to the range today and put a box of 280 Rem through it to fire form the cases. My buddy will be working up some AI loads for me to try. It's good to have friends with reloading skills. Oh, and he has a suppressor that fits my T3x. We'll give that a try next time...

My super accurate Marlin Glenfield 30 has a Leupold VX-3 1.5-5x20 scope. Yes, a $400.00 scope on a $200.00 rifle! I love this combo, and they have printed a fair number of sub-MOA groups over the years Only problem is this scope has way more eye relief than most, like 5 inches. The Burris mounts it previously had wouldn't allow the scope to move far enough forward for comfort.

I decided to go with the Midwest Industries Picatinny rail for Marlins which has multiple slots with about an inch hanging over the front of the receiver. I decided to hold off on buying actual Picatinny rings and first see if Weaver brand rings would work. Sometimes they will and sometimes they won't .

Turns out the Weaver Sure Grip rings are a perfect fit. I can't tell any actual difference in how well they mount to a Weaver brand base and the Midwest Picatinny base.

Here’s my ELR rig. Sako TRG 42 in 338 Lapua, nightforce nxs 5.5-22x56 scope. I made the stainless weights hanging under it to help manage recoil. Comes in at 22lbs. I shot the factory barrel out just past 1000rds and had it rebarreled with a 30” Broughton barrel. Would like to get out and shoot this one a little more this winter. Farthest I’ve taken it with the factory barrel was 1930yds. Would like to get past the 2000yd mark soon.4CB7D8DA-E554-4C9A-9285-5017B8E12BE1.jpeg15005CBE-B7DD-46D7-BA4C-EACC6F88A57E.jpeg A5663C2B-23C8-4999-8E74-667C28FF7D6A.jpeg

Hey Lance, if you only value that 30 at 200 smackers I'll be there tonight with a $300 dollar bill. You can keep the change! :D

If I ever decide to sell it, I'll seriously take you up on that! If anything I overpaid when I bought it back in the 2000's. Back then, pawnshops had endless rows of used .30-30's and $200.00 would buy you a practically new example.

I paid 350 for a jm 336 a few months ago and that was a steal for the times!
