Taurus seems pretty solid these days, I'm a big fan of their .38 and .357 wheelguns which of course they have been making forever. Likewise, the G2 and G3 series do really well. Seems like most of their trouble happens with the oddball or really new guns.
My biggest gripe with Taurus is that quite often they will replace a gun outright instead of fixing it. This sounds bass-ackwards, complaining about getting a new gun, but it sux if you really like that particular gun and they don't make it anymore. My Taurus 83 is an awesome six shooter, basically a more heavy duty S&W 15 at half the price and just as accurate. And if I had to send it in for repair, I think there is a very high chance they would tell me to pick out a replacement. There are many nice guns in their lineup, but nothing I would like better than my 83. So, if I ever have problems with it, I'll probably have to fix it myself or take it to the gunsmith.
