Yep most "gun" oils are a gimmick, they charge 2or 3 bucks for an ounce of oil. Remoil for example is mineral oil with silicone. Motor oil is fine. That's the main ingredient in the NRA oil. I made a gallon of it for about $25. That's less than 20 cent per ounce. It will last the rest of my life.

Crazy what folks want now for MC2500...take a look at the prices per ounce.

I just looked it up, I had never heard of it. I won't be buying any of that. Firearms don't need as much oil as some people think. A drop in all the right places is all you need. I've seen people spray lube all in the action then it runs everywhere and attracts burned powder and makes a grungy mess. I keep white lithium grease in a plastic syringe that I grease slides and such with. I keep the NRA oil in an eye dropper bottle that I oil the action parts with.

I’ve used Frog lube, Mpro7, Rem oil, and several others. All of them work decent when applied correctly and not dripping off there. Thebb B only ones I’ll soak in grease is the AR15. They run better with some grease over a lot of oils.

I use Lock-eez to coat the bore of a clean barrel and also on bolt and carriers. Any oil will do to wipe down the exterior. The lugs of my bolt guns get a thin layer of shooters choice grease.

Lucas makes good stuff. I'm going to try their 2stroke oil when I finish my quart of amsoil. I used to use Remoil until I mixed up the NRA stuff. Now it's all I use.
Lucas 2 stroke oil sucks. Fare warning, don't use it. It's been tested by a few. Its dry

I've read numerous articles on firearms lube and there is a lot of sentiment out there that using a good quality synthetic engine oil is a great option, too. I'm on several waterfowling forums and some fellas use Mobil 1 on their Benellis , Berettas, Brownings, Remingtons, etc, etc, and get along just fine. I've often wondered if the latest greatest super gun oil isn't simply repacked engine oil or something similar anyway. How would a guy know.......

I'm a mobil1 fan. I've seen it make more than one new custom 1911 run before the manufacturer recommended break in was over and they wouldn't run before hand

Thats my buddy Max in the pic. He’s a 16 month goose huntin’ machine. I worked with him a little bit with decoys and he picked it right up. My buddy has a 2 year old Black Lab too that he paid $3500 for with all kind of training. Max hits the water before he does and beats him to the goose every time. He gets so pissed:risas3:

I shot trap league with and old timer that used grease on moving parts. It works good as long as you can get a thin layer and don’t have a lot of excess.
Normally I clean with hoppes 9, cost with rem oil, and have a heavy synthetic oil called super lube for moving parts.

WD40 isn’t bad stuff if you get it in a spray bottle or bulk, the propellant in the aerosol is bad chit for raw metal.

Grease works great as a lubricant, for sure, but not in a gun that is used in cold temps.

Rem oil for post-woods wipe down (spray on a silicone impregnated rag, gently wipe everywhere I touched, to get the fingerprint oils off).
Hoppes oil for the moving parts that need a dab after cleaning.

I only have bolt, pump, and single shot firearms, so while lubrication is important, it's not as vital as it is on a semiauto or lever gun.
