Only way to get good at it is to only square file. That's what Andy told me in about 2010. After a roll of chain and a dozen files you get comfortable.

Dam, guess I'm not doing horrible on my learning then, I definitely see why after you use square going back to round is hard. I'm on my 3rd file, wrecked one good chain and a couple other chains that weren't that good when I started with them.
