I do like the NE filter set up, but have had a OE for 15 years and never had a problem with the filterOne thing I like about the NE that is different than the OE is the air filter mounting/retention method. The OE has that 1/4 turn setup that seems kind of flimsy and failure prone to me, where my NE has the same type of retention that my 357/359 has... The wire retainer that swings over top of the filter and snaps into place..
We posted almost the same time Tor..same info more or lessAfter study the IPL's, airfilter was changed after serial number:
346 OE, 034200001, year 03 week 42
353, 034200001, year 03 week 42
After those serial number they all had the new type airfilter and the clips locking.
hehe we sure did and yeah, we got it rightWe posted almost the same time Tor..same info more or less
198 is avaible and would be my first choice if I had to exchange...zama no thank you!I agree on the accelerator pumps Tor.
I have a 357 with the hda199 that I have already corrected the common issue they are known to have. But now I'm wondering what carb I should be prepared to switch to when inevitably the pump fails on mine. My 357 is somewhat modded and I've read that the Zama isn't as well suited to feeding the 357 when mods start adding up.
Wish the dang pumps were serviceable!
same do I, none on mine has issues but I do the !modd anywayYes Sir, I gave my 199 the Treemonkey treatment... K24-HDA kit, and drilled a vent hole in the metering diaphragm cover. Completely cured the then mild issues it was beginning to develope.
Tor..can confirm that HDA 182a has a pump. That was the carb that gave me all the problems on my 346.I gotta read through this thread closely, have HdA 182 and 195, gotta learn how to check the acc pump.
I prefer the walbros, kinda got used to them + most gasket sets are pretty !uch the same from 242 up to 357
doesnt the brass plug follow the repair set?Tor..can confirm that HDA 182a has a pump. That was the carb that gave me all the problems on my 346.
You have to drill a tinny hole in the brass cap and use a extractor to pull it. You can only do this IF you have a new brass cap ,so not being able to get service parts on some Walbro carbs makes for a swap to another carb .
Brass plug out…then butterfly and stem removed..out comes the spring and then the brass plunger . If you mean …that the plug is included in the repair kit then , yes, I believe it is. But getting the kit is not something i haven't tried.doesnt the brass plug follow the repair set?
At least they do to 242,254,262
Anyway, will figure it out, waiting for some k20hda and k24hda sets
