If you happen to think up a good methodology for testing the HD shaped air filters, please let me know, I would love some real data on the 6 or more different types/brands I have on hand.
The frog fabric looks cool. Do they sell it in sheetss or rolls where you could apply with a resin Or glue to whatever shapes you wanted to cut in the air Box?

sent them a bunch of pictures with measurements and with what they currently offer up against the 661 filter box. Asked if they could make something similar but smaller (rectangular oval). I think something like that would fit, work, and look well on a lot of chainsaw air filter covers.

That big rectangular one is - http://www.frogzskin.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=34_40&products_id=170

3.88" x 2.1" OD 3.25" x 1.5" ID - I asked them to shrink those sizes a bit to fit the 661 and other covers... so like 3.00" x 1.25" OD

email to them.

"....Looks wise - I do like the longer rectangle

Fit wise - I prefer the rectangle - something like maybe 1.25" OD wide? and probably 3.00" OD long? Not sure what that = for inside diameter. But check the pics and see what you think. If anything I might go smaller like 1.12-1.1875 x 2.875. Again please give me your thoughts.

On the top...it seems it would be nice to have some air flow up there. That is where the saw dust tends to sit in the filter the easiest. Up top I think the OD could be only 9/16" wide x but could easily do 3.00" long OD.

Respectfully,
Julian"

update - they emailed me a pdf to print off and cut out the new proposed sizes for the 661. (so we could see what they look like before they actually go through and make them)

I colored one black to give a better idea what it would look like in real life.

skinny one on the top of the filter is really about as big as we can go due to how the cover is made. 3" x 9/16" OD , 2 3/4" x 5/16" ID

bigger one on the side = 3" x 1 1/4" OD and 2 1/2" x 3/4" ID

also stuck it on a 660 filter cover.

what do you guys think?

Bump

Has anyone done any cutting with one yet??
If I had some stuff to cut I would. Nothing left at home besides cants. I guess I need to get in gear and go grab a couple logs. I may put them on my max flow cover. I can't bring myself to hack up the new 562 cover.
