I just purchased a Fiskars garden pick. Going to use it to work on a palm tree stump that is to close to the house to burn and access to small for a stump grinder. I have been using stump root on it. The factory edge is half sharp and half obtuse. Should this be axe sharp or more obtuse.

I sharpen my axes, mauls, pickaxes, planes, chisels, everything that is supposed to cut right down to my garden shovels... 20200406_145341.jpg

I'm not saying I make them all knife edged, everything has it's own ideal cutting angle and the factory angles are a good place to start. But a straight polished edge goes a long way much easier than its dull counterpart.

Sharp is better even a pick edge in rock slate cuts and digs much better than a dull tool. I even sharpen my post hole tamper bar. Old coal miner told me to keep digging tools sharp.
