Im not an echo guy but bang for your buck on a new saw right now i think the cs590 would be a good choice as the goat stated. Its got pro saw qualities at a homeowner saw price.

I've had no problems with the two 590s I have a little heavy the older one has about two years of firewood duty on it. I also bought a 490 it would be another good starter saw not the fastest but lightweight means a lot too.
