Yep, I can only dream of using a tractor to help. And since both kids are grown, 95% of the time I'm alone doing it.
I knew what I was getting into though. THis was my very first hoard of wood. The local apple orchards (owned by Motts and KNouse Foods) sold permits to cut all you want for $1. They doze trees over. Talk about a LOT of work!
Oh that's awesome, Apple is such wonderful firewood! I got one tree two years ago (80+yr old) that worked out to about a half a cord.. I don't even burn more than a handful of pieces at a time (indoor fisher stove) because I never want it to be all gone. I'd love to find a score like that

@Wolverine them yellows are looking for a nice winter home.

My area has a lot them wild bees, very aggressive and very territorial.

Some moved into my chimney, I was trying to take a pic of my 7 year dry wood build up after an entire season. I'll try to post them soon.

My neighbor and I made plans to go clear and buck some of the summer storm damage in his forest this Saturday.
I am working the morning/AM shift this week, while he is in the afternoon/PM shift.
As I came home from work today the weather was good, so I decided to go and cut some of the wood by myself. I also decided to split it, since fresh bucked rounds split easier that dried rounds.
I won't tell him I did this, curious to see his reaction when we go there on Saturday with him expecting to see a whole cherry tree cut down to merely 4-5 big chunks.
This is 1.5 hours worth of work without breaks.

I wished I had brought a bigger saw and longer bar along, but I still got a decent result with my PS-460 & PS-550. :)

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s a cord delivered go for where you are?
The last time I sold any it was $350/cord delivered in W St. Louis county.
I got $275 delivered & stacked for that load.....it was about an hour one way driving time.
I get $165 per cord here at the house.

There's just not an amazing amount of $ in firewood down here in the woods.

I got a little this morning. I never cut in this area of the property. Tons of dead standing oaks. The few limbs that were on the tree shattered with the tree hit the ground. Awesome, no limbing! I used my XS 572xpg.

I apologize for multiple posts. I can only load so many pics at a time. I used my scarr 592xp with a 32" bar for noodling. All the wood blocked to 26" for a owb.
