You see much improvement over cost factor, compared to round of square chain ?
Not a whole lot compared to round which is what I use most of the time. 3 round stihl chains run me about $60 and if I bought 3 hexa it would be about $80 ish. I filed the hexa but haven't cut with it since so I'm curious to see how it cuts now compared to right out of the box.

I heat with a boiler and go thru 22 to 25 IBC totes per season. Just shut down the boiler this week and topped off my 75 totes. I've got 3 years supply cut, split, and in totes. I'm also starting to cut and haul for 2026 burn season.

Did me a little noodling this afternoon. I was getting too many pieces that needed noodled and they were in the way. It was finally a decent enough day to do it. 20230402_154040_HDR.jpg

This area is finally getting back to some sort of order, after my honey locust haul in December.

Went out to Lefty's place. Started by finished splitting rounds by splitter. After that, moved the splitter and started on @JimBear gifted hedge pile. The rest is just a overall view of most of our split wood. Lots to do now that Lefty passed away suddenly.

Just drove by the local state Highway post and saw some nice ash rounds put out. I’ll be getting those in the a m. From time to time they clear trees downed on the highways and interstates and set them in their lot as free wood. Two years ago I got a dump trailer full of black locust!

That is a lot of chips and sawdust. Hat's off for keeping your play area nice and clean. Unlike someone we know.

Yes it is. Way more than I was expecting. This was by far the worst this area has ever been. Being in my yard, I always try to keep it somewhat cleaned and organized, but it's been a disaster for several months now.

Took my splitter to my sons place and made is first stacks. Mostly chestnut oak. Put a dent in the pile but didn’t finish.
