Fell 3 plus one already down.


Had to wedge the snot out of the last one to lay it in the trail, avoiding jaggers.

3 loads yesterday to get all this wood home for mom and dad.


Some were heavy enough I rolled them up on boards.

Some of these were heavy enough that rolling up on boards saved my back a bit.

How many loads, roughly, would you say you've made with that pickup/trailer combo? You definitely make them work, and earn their keep.

Hmm, I got the Tundra in 2010 specifically to haul firewood. It replaced a T100. Couple years later I got the trailer. I burned 5-6 cord per year up till about 2-3 years ago when I replaced the burner in the basement to something more efficient(now about 4 per). And, I’ve helped keep my parents warm with probably 3-5 cord per year.
They’ve both earned their keep. Some random pics. I started with apple orchard wood.

The pictured tree is honey locust. The few pieces at the front of the trailer are from a smaller, second tree I didn't take a picture of. I'm not sure what it was. It was awfully light in weight compared to any variety of locust I've dealt with. So, I'm not sure on that.

The second tree in question looks like ash.

Load 4 from this tree job. One leader left. A rope, my homemade boat winch setup, and an hour, or so, and this will be wrapped up.

So, I can say I've cut my first ash tree, again. Sweet. If that other tree was a hickory, as you mentioned, that would've been my first hickory as well, to my knowledge.

Last load. 2.5 cords, some change in my pocket, and time on saws. Not a bad way to spend a few afternoons.

Finished making a pile of red oaks killed by oak wilt. (I despise that wilt) Now comes bucking and splitting.
