My Sugi 20" is very light for a 20" bar, but my Sugi 28" is far heavier than my Stihl light 28" bars.

The Sugi bars are very durable, but not light in the longer lengths.

My experience with Sugi bars was not good. Edges rolled and yes my oiler was turned up, oiling well

Good to kno
Good to know. I noticed that when I bought a husky light, and was told it's sugi I think right? But noticed the stihl lw and cannon lw are lighter
This one?
I haven't tried them
no need I have like 35+ good bar's now that I inherited my timber faller brother's equipment when he retired.
I wouldn't spend over 50.00 on a bar anyway that's crazy to put a 150.00 bar on a 40.00 saw
s-l400.jpg
The ported saw polishers went apeshit wanting these bar's to beautify their saws
When they were announced.
I only run 24" mainly we have small tree's here.
Actually I've bought a few saws from guy's because they were faded and scratched up
They didn't match the aesthetic of their saw collections anymore?

You guy's should see saws the Amish have used
I'm talking no clutch cover and the top covers wired on
Some of those boys run saws to the absolute death of them
A psp would cry.

They are definitely a nice bar as far as quality goes, the rails are super strait and I haven't seen any wear in my limited use.
I've got some others that even new needed some straightening and showed wear in about 5 trees (Archer brand ) . An Oregon will last me a while with care ,but the stihl and sugihara's are definitely a higher quality.
Honestly I don't know if they're better than the old milled Windsor bars or old Oregon yet but they are lighter.

I hate hitting metal. Coil on the gas can. I used to have an old blue, kerosene marked can. One of the best gas cans I ever had. Big screw top vent real vent can, with the r we al nozzles that screw on and off easily. And it was completely watertight.

@Czed you’ve pushed me over the edge. I’m puttin the full wrap on the 266 and killin some dead trees with it…soon as I don’t feel wrung out. I just saw an old BBR of him droppin a decent pine with 28 or 32” hangin off a 266. Last time I ran mine it seemed they weren’t as fast as my newer ported saws, but they were awful hard to stall doggin’. Just what I want in a falling saw.

There are many faster saws from most manufacturers now
And i've run most platforms over the year's except autotronic crap.
But I'm not packing 394/395s anymore when a light to me 70cc will handle anything I need.
I probably have less than 2k in about 25/35 70cc saws
I don't really know I have many builder's and 371/372s also plus
Saws I accumulated over the decades
I just run what I got.
Younger guy's hate outboard clutches and inboard chain adjustment
Too difficult they say.

I have numerous new and old saws, and like them all. My 2 ported M-Tonic 462s are hard to beat in the power to weight dept, and my MOFO ported Hybrid pulls like a freight train in hardwood with 28" B+C. I will often use the 462s for hardwood up to 20" (they are very fast, light, responsive, smooth and have clean filter tech) and the Hybrid for larger stuff.

All 3 have great power to weight. The 462s are as light as many 60 cc saws and stronger than most 77 cc saws, and no screwdriver needed. They are very pleasant to use on a regular basis.

Yeah many tree jobs we get involve metal. And roadside trees at my county job, most always had meta fence involved at some point in their life.
