Echo SRM 225 a bear to start. Looked at parts diagrams, it shows a single gasket between the carb and the body of the trimmer. But when you click on the link for the gasket part number it says you need 2 gaskets. Huh? Do you know which is correct? Is there a gasket between the air filter and carb, and then another gasket between the carb and the cylinder? Thanks in advance.

If you look at your models parts breakdown it will show the gaskets and where and how to position them. Sounds like you need a gasket between air filter housing and carb, and a second one between the carb and engine block. Reference the proper Echo parts diagram. I believe they are on Echo's website. Good luck.

Thanks, M. Where is NEK Vermont? We have family in VT, but I never heard of that region.

Echo does not use a gasket between the air filter base and carb. You may be looking at a set of gaskets for both sides of the manifold.

Good reply, thanks. Took out that gasket and starts easier. When I looked at the hole in the gasket, and the size of the hole in the carb, it's easy to see the gasket was restricting air flow. Still take too many pulls (8-10) to start, but it's better than it was.

Make sure that the air filter knob shaft is not hitting the choke plate and keeping it from closing. If the trimmer is dropped and the metal filter knob nut gets smashed, it can do that.
