It has a lot to do with the brands attitude and marketing, but also the generally very low power output and often lacking ergonomics + the typical Japanese total lack of "taste" (has been getting better lately though) - they don't seem to have any respect for the costumers.

That said, with the pricing they do on some markets (typically the US, but absolutely not here), some of their mag cased models surely are good alternatives to plastic cased clamshell designs from other brands.

Pics of the costumers.

We are very fortunate to not have to pay what you and others have to in other countrys. But don't get the impression we are foolish in what saws we buy we have many choices I've got about 33 years dealing with saws i know what works for me. And i do like my huskys the 288 in particular.

How big is the fuel tank on the Echo 360? That is something to seriously consider on a top handle saw. Refueling and having to drop your saw down costs time. That was why one arborist wanted nothing to do with a Stihl 192 when a dealer tried to sell him it. The 200t has a bigger tank but runs longer according to him. It was not about the power issue.

From my experience the 192 is a turd. can't remember what my 360 holds but it runs a good while on a tank working hard on removal jobs. At almost 6 years old and run 4 plus days a week it's been a great saw with a 14" stihl bar. the 200t is a bit of a gas hog and yes many climbers love the power and rpm of the 200t, those are hard to come by in good condition now.

It's not so much tank capacity as how long they will run on a tank.
Well like I said mine runs a good long while.FullSizeR_5.jpgFullSizeR_5.jpg40 percent of this tree was over the house and during the lowering process saw hung at idle with brake on. still had some left in the tank by the time I had to break out the 034 to drop the trunkIMG_5529.jpg

If they decide to ban guns, maybe some saws should be banned in the US due to safety issues as well. Echo is quite obviously "unsafe at any speed" or time. Older all metal Echos could be considered curios or relics and be excluded from the safety laws.

That would put some new stihl top handle saws on the ban list cause of plastic chain covers
