Went to visit my friend today who does firewood pretty much full time . He has cut about 500 cord of wood with his totally stock CS 590 18" the past 2 years .
He always ran Stihl before and had a number of issues , this saw amazes him at how reliable it is .

Like I've said before mines been run hard for nearly four years and I've loaned it to my friends to run other than a stripped chain adjuster echo sent me one for free. i haven't even ran the other 590 i bought they were 300 shipped back then several of my friends bought one after trying mine i think it's the best deal out there.

His chain adjuster stripped last year too and Echo switched to a steel rather than cast piece to fix that so they do make improvements and the warranty seems solid with how they treat owners , not blowing them off like others seem to be .

He says another fellow that does some cutting is giving serious thought to switching from Stihl as well .

I agree , best bang for the $$ out there , hard to go wrong .
You can compare specs all day long on saw makes and models but actual use is what really tells the true performance and reliability of a saw .

Not many dealers would do that , he must have had a good one .

If you read the Echo warranty I see the ignition modules and trimmer shafts have a lifetime warranty over the 5 year period....nice !

My first 590 is doing great I've cut many truckloads of firewood and let some friends cut with it too.
Haven't even fueled the second one no need have to look but it's well over four years now.

Back then i was going to buy a jonsered 2166 and convert it to 2172 but i saw that i could buy two of these for the same price glad i did and I've got a 288 for the bigger stuff.
