Understandable I was pointing out Joes review and do you have a Home Depot near by? I hit mine once a week looking for heavily discounted returns hoping to find a 590.

Had an interesting conversation with one of the local Echo dealers. We were talking engineering on the Echo saws and I stated I really thought they were highly thought out and designed and actually over built.....he came back with maybe that explaines why none of them ever come back. I asked what he meant by that and he said, since he started selling the 590 Timber Wolf in 2013 he's never had one returned....he also said he doesn't have any of the recent saws for parts saws....zilch he said.... only have the older models.
I thought this was quite interesting and speaks a lot about the Echo line of saws. I know for fact they make one of the best string trimmers going as I have one that's over 25 years old. It appears their saw line is gaining that notoriety.

Yep, love me some Echoes! I currently have a CS-3000, CS-400, SRM-225, and GT-210R and they all run great. Even their homeowner grade machines have quality design and materials, better than the Stihl and Husky equivalents I think.

There was a 680 in need of p/c on Fleabay a couple of weeks ago that went for $120.00. 590's come up there alot, I think alot folks buy them and then realize they would do better with something smaller.

I love my echos. Only problem I have with them is I would love to have more, getting them broke and fixing them, but there is hardly any aftermarket parts for them and oem is quite expensive.

Gave the CS-3000 and CS-400 some exercise today on the smaller limbs of a dead maple. Both saws are great performers, and were purchased as non-runners on Fleabay. I set the CS-3000 at 11000 RPM WOT no load and the 400 at 12300. The 3000 is an older saw with no rev limiter. There is a point where too lean on the high side causes it to bog down in the cut. The maximum RPM from Echo is 11500, 11000 seems to be optimum. The 400 has a rev limiter and it starts to cut in at around 12500, the published max is 12650. Set to 12300, the saw has good power and acceleration and doesn't hit the rev limiter so much.

The 400 really, really does not like to run too rich. It is possible to richen it to the point that it four strokes at WOT and cleans up while cutting. However, when you cold start it later on it is chugging like a locomotive and doesn't want to warm up. My SRM-225 and GT-200R are the same way. The CS-3000 is a dirt magnet and I have no idea why. Every surface and every little crevice stays caked in sawdust and bar oil. Must be genetic, like an old Detroit Diesel needs to be covered in oil and leak all over the place.

Well, upon reading the news that Dolmar and apparently now Jonsered are getting thrown overboard by their respective owners I may end up going all Echo just for spite. I could totally see a CS-500P and CS-680 joining my little fleet, replacing the Jonny 2150 and Dolmar 5105.

Replace? Your doing it wrong just add the ECHOS and call it good.

Whoa! Slow your roll, big fella......in my conversation with the Echo rep that comes a calling, this Fall is the scheduled release of the 70cc class Echo. I couldn't pry much info out of the lock jawed rep, but it should be pretty slick.

Those are normal....for a D176 type bar.

But I understand.....

I may just cut some spring type spacers and run a D009 on the Echo's in my future.
