My experience is that quite often these have been yanked out of place by someone being too enthusiastic about starting it, just retensioning the spring may be all it needs. I think I have an air filter cover, let me look through the saw junkyard...

That would be great! Thanks! I’ll pull the starter cover off this weekend. Cranks on 3rd pull but haven’t put it in wood because I don’t want chips getting into the carb.

Echo now makes a rear handle version of the CS-355T, it looks pretty sweet. Hopefully, I can find one on Fleabay or a pawn shop for low money sometime.

I just looked it up. That is a sweet looking saw. It looks like a mix between the 355 with the rear of a 590/600/620.

Oh wow, Echo now has a 25cc saw in their lineup, the CS-2511T. Can't imagine I would ever need something smaller than my 3000, but I might want one anyway!

Wonder if the weight difference is much? Can’t really see the benefit as light as the 30ccs are

Last night I used the CS-400 to cut some 10-12" logs to size for stacking which had originally been cut with the Dolly 5105. Really, the 400 is not that much slower than the 5105 in wood of this size which has not been dead for very long. Now, I wouldn't choose it for any job which requires burying the bar but this saw is certainly more capable than it's size would suggest. I use Oregon VXL chain on the 400 with the original 18" bar. I think the more aggressive chain helps primarily by ejecting chips faster. In my experience, low kickback chain can get bogged down on larger wood because the chips don't get moved out of the kerf as efficiently. On a sub-40 cc saw in smaller wood there isn't that much difference.
try a loop of stihl 63ps on it. its like night and day on that saw.

Just so you don’t have to go digging through a whole bunch of parts in vain I found the air filter cover and a tune up kit (new plug, fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, and primer bulb) for around $15 total for all of it so I went ahead and ordered. Thanks for the offer though!

That's no problem, just thought I would ask. If you need anything else just let me know and I'll see if I have it.

Hey guys , new to this site so I do t know if this is the right place to ask this.
I'm thinking of buying an Echo cs501p to replace a Dolmar 421. It only comes with 18 or 20" .325 . I would prefer to run a 16" bar and really would like to run 3/8" chain. I checked the Oregon bar finder and no listing for a 16" bar .325 or 3/8 for this saw. Does any know if I can get a 16" .325 bar for this saw? Or can I convert it to run 3/8 chain ?Thanks in advance for any advice!!

oregon catalog lists 16, 18, 20 bars in .325

that saw is k216 mount, IIRC there arent any 3/8 bars in that mount but K095 bars can be fitted fairly easily...been way to long since i messed with one so cant remember what needs done exactly for it to fit.
501 comes with rim sprocket so swapping to a 16" 3/8 is just a matter of getting a small spline 3/8 rim and a bar.

Why is it that Echo insists on using .325 on their 45-50cc saws? There must be some sort of performance gain to be had, Husky does the same thing. Fortunately, the Oregon Pro Lite bars and 20LPX chain are really good, I use them on my Jonsered 2150. I'm sure you'll be happy with the 501P although you can get a really good deal on a used 50cc Dolmar. I paid a whopping $195.00 on Fleabay for my 5105 with the original 20" 3/8 pitch bar and chain. As much as I love Echo I really don't think I would like any of their 50-60cc saws better.

I have a 5105 bought from a@fordf150 great saw. I'm looking at the 501p to use where I used the 421, it's light and should be comparable and no auto tune.

Woodbutcher, if you want to unload that 421 I'm sure someone here would love to have it!
It's actually an ea4300 never been in the wood. Test tuned with can gas at the dealer and never run after that. I'm gonna try and sell it local so I don't have to fuss with shipping and funds transfers . If it doesn't. move quickly I'll list it here.

Thanks for the info Nate. The Oregon bar finder didn't list a 16" bar . Now that I know the mount I'll do some more checking . If I do go with the 501 I'll just get the bar and chain from you, probably just stick with the .325 but I really think the saw would work well with a 16" 3/8. I think they ship them with the ,325 because it's less aggressive can run a longer bar and easier on bearings. Just my opinion!

Wow, according to their respective websites the 501P actually weighs a bit less than the EA4300. The 5105 weighs around 1.3 pounds more so if the 501P even comes close to the performance of the 5105 then it will be a winner. I love my 5105, it really acts more like a 60cc saw to me.
