Echo Carb Limiters Question

When you folks remove the carb limiters on an Echo chainsaw, do you throw them away or reinstall? Do the limiters serve any purpose to hold the settings in place? I’m inclined to give the liters a toss, but looking for some advice here.

Not really familiar with echo limiter caps. But on other manufacturers I usually just trim off the portion that limits the adjustment then reinstall. I will trim new limiter caps and install them when rebuilding a carb. I think it helps to hold them. Plus keeps some of the dust and debris out.

I own and use Echo saws almost exclusively now, and I agree 100% with the advice and reasoning that Jmester offered.

I follow an Echo guru on yt. He puts them back on after defeating them. His reason is easier to get tuning screwdriver alignment with running saw. I had a saw that seemed to have very slick tuning screws. I always suspected they “moved” from vibration. So, the added friction wouldn’t be a bad thing in my book.

OOOh! Today I pulled 4 off two 2511T carbs and tossed them in the trash. Guess I'll be dumpster diving in the morning.

The needles stay in place just fine with them off, but due to how small the needles are it can be hard to line up a flat screwdriver without looking. Echo sells a sleeve that fits over the screwdriver shaft that centers it on the needle, and you could do the same with a piece of copper tube.

If you’re talking about the red plastic caps, I pull them with a drywall screw, trim the tab off and put them back in. I’ve had a few saws sent in that have caps removed and the jets get bent from people trying to get the screwdriver lined up and they are actually too deep and end up prying on them from the side

That gets to the only thing that I ever said nice about the splined screws.
Easier to keep the tool on one. Just don't get careless and leave the tool hanging and then bump it or something.
