My wife's car and van are like this. Sometimes the garbage is piled up to the windowsills. I have seen her get a full Rumpke curbside can of trash out of it. I take care of the mechanical stuff so they will keep running. If she wants to drive around in a sea of trash thats her deal. My vehicles arent clean by any means but I can't stand leaving trash in them.
We don't even eat in ours.

I worked with a kid one time that needed a summer job..he was a college boy with an engineering degree and ended up getting a job with betis, that dude was absolutely clueless about working with his hands..he looked like a fukked duck trying to do anything labor related..it just wasn't his thing, it wasn't in his DNA. you could see it from a mile away.

He could do math problems I can't even fathom and design things in a way I don't even understand..

Am I stupid..

Or is it him..

Age old question.

I understand how that goes, either all or nothing. Always been extremely good at reading and writing but can't do math beyond about a second grade level. After that it just looks like made up nonsense to me. I did work as a car mechanic for 10 years even though I don't have any natural talent for it. I was obssessed with learning the trade and read books about it, and took every chance I could to gain experience. I also made sure that every job I did was quality, even if it took twice as long as the other guys to do it.

I only eat in mine if I am actually hungry and have no other choice. I detest going through the drive through window. In my experience you really don't save any time and they probably won't get your order right. Or, only half your fries actually make it into the bag, most of your drink is ice and fizz, or something like that. Totally pointless.

I don't think anyone is genuinely stupid..maybe a few people...

You aren't a moron because you know nothing about a chainsaw. If you don't work with one or have any intrest in them how or why would you know what to do with them.

There's plenty of guys on this forum that shouldn't use a chainsaw, I actually get embarrassed for them when they make videos...

Our summer help always gets sent with uncle sawmikaze because I have the patience to show people things and not treat them like an idiot when they've never done something before.

But you either have it or you don't. I can tell by the way someone picks up and uses a rake if they were meant to actually work for a living. I was lucky enough to work with some good guys when I was younger that weren't total dicks to show me the ropes because they knew I was cut out for it. I'd look like a complete idiot at a desk job, I've never even sent an email in my life, I'm not wired to think like that. I have a stronger back than a brain.

People need to slow their role a little bit..

Some people learn to tie a bowline and a clove hitch in 5 minutes..some never learn...it's how you're wired.

As I recall, to get the 'Tenderfoot' badge in Boy Scouts we had to be able to do both of those knots (and a lot more). There was/is some value in learning the 'old ways', not many adults can pass on that knowledge these days.

To be clear....my post....these guys know how to use saws, and check and change oil. They are to lazy to do it. I wasn't implying they are stupid.

You wanna hear one..

I was at my stihl dealer one day and a dude came in who moved here from Vegas for his job, he was clueless by his own admission about using tools..total yuppie kinda guy..

He couldn't get his trimmer to work right..

The guard was out in front of the trimmer and he couldn't figure out why the string wouldn't reach the grass and weeds...

That one made me scratch my head..

Yeah that's funny. I know some people aren't mechanical. I can't grasp why because I'm naturally that way. Everyone has their own talents I guess. Lazy now, that crosses all types and lazy irritates me.

Lazy is my least favorite quality in people. That and whining..it's like chewing on glass for me, I can't stand it.

If you wanna work for a tree service those are 2 knots anyone should know.

When I joined the fire brigade I had to demonstrate that I could tie a bowline. I demonstrated a 'one hand' bowline. We were taught how to tie a bowline with the right hand while hanging from the rope with the left hand. The instructor had never seen it done before, so I taught him.

I can't say I've tried to tie a bow one handed. But I can pretty much tie a clove to lower branches one handed.

It's a good trick to know if you get into a hairy situation. Hold the rope out in front of you with the left hand, bring the rope behind your back with the right, lay your right hand with the rope in it over the rope in front of you, grasp the rope with your thumb and flip your hand over so the rope is now going through a loop, use your fingers to bring the end of the rope around the stationary rope and then back down through the loop.

Do it a couple of times and it becomes easy.

The problem is remembering if the tree is in front or behind the hole the rabbit goes up.

A bowline was the only knot we were allowed to use as a safety rope for small outboard rental engines when I was a dock boy. Being a scout made it easier.

And some people aren’t wired for every kind of work. It’s not just ignorance, they just can’t do it.

Scouts in my country used to learn bowline with a story that dragon crawls out of the lake, takes the princess and returns back to the lake. Maybe it is too sexist today?:nusenuse:
