Had a few hours.

Forgive the bad vid. Tried to hold flashlight and phone at same time.

Shortened and reslotted 3 carb screws.

This carb was holding 35# psi of pressure stock. I lowered it to 22psi.

We will see tomorrow.

The levers were made by @Canadian farm boy, they are pretty slick.

Have a bit of time for explanation.

The carb is wayyyy oversized for the carb box. The 3 needles needed to be pulled and reinstalled (and therefore readjusted) every time the carb had to be removed. Besides being a giant PITA, this would eventually cause some type of damage/stripping/loss of need;es or carb. Shortening them and reslotting is the answer and shoulda been done before the install. Being it was a brand new OEM carb, I really didn’t want to fark it up until I made it fit and run.

Here’s some pics of the slick choke lever Mike CFB made. My other error is that the choke lever stalk shoulda been shortened and had a small tab welded on as well. I believe that the choke won’t engage with any cover on the air box. Duane can simply start the saw with the cover off, and then put it back on.

I plan on modding this cheap AM cover to slip over the V stack elbow.

I got one of them f-tec 260 rear covers for my 026, but not sure why it would not catch on to the 026 air filter, but fitted on the 260, I think it’s either the latch to short or the air filter sitting in closer

So I just put the oem what was on the 260 onto the 026 and the f-tec onto the 260

026 filters have shorter lever for filter to click on to than the 260 filter which has the longer lever for 260 air filter cover to lock on to.

Have you tried a less open or tube style muffler on it ? I've found with the larger carb on these and a very open muffler will cause erratic idling/loading up. The last muffler I did for one of these I used two 1/2" id tubes about 1 3/4" long with 2/3 sticking inside the muffler, the rest sticking out and the outside ends cut at a 45. It made a very noticeable difference in the saws manners. Better idle and throttle response. Seems backward I know, to run a smaller muffler opening with a larger carb but it does seem to help make them more usable in my experience.

I really think it’s a fuel issue. I have to check the tank vent as well.

It idled beautifully until it got hot. No issues on the high side.

I’m still out a full turn on the H needle, even with the jet drilled and the saw set at 15500.
