I have now taken ownership of a 1996 Stihl 026, it is fitted with a 44mm aftermarket cylinder and piston and a Walbro wt394 carburetor.
The piston has slight damage and grooves on the intake side, one I can feel with a finger, the cylinder itself is fine but the flash around the ports suggests some got sucked into the cyl when saw was running so it's getting a strip down and rebuilt.
I am going to be fitting it with a 44.7mm Hyway cylinder that I have and will time and port it, muffler mod, squish etc etc.
So which is the betterer carburetor to use?, Walbro WT426, 194 or 394?, what are the differences between them?.
I am even thinking of using a 044 Walbro HD14B carb I have, the carb box in the tank handle will need to be modified for that so will use a spare tank handle I have.
